Lost Wax Process

The wax positive is chased prior to casting

The mold is separated from the sculpture in pieces.  Then the rubber is covered with plaster to create a "mother" mold.  The plasticine of the original sculpture is recycled for use in another project.  The rubber mold and the plaster mold supporting it are used to create a wax positive.  The surface of the wax casting is carefully refined in a process called chasing to recapture the detail of the original piece.
